Why, in 2011, do we still drag little paper icons onto little folder
icons? The speed and ease of indexing the full contents of files in
modern operating systems should obviate the need for filing.
Similarly, treating files, folders, programs and other items as the
same kind of thing—showing them all as icons within folders or on a
desktop—confuses both new and long-time basic users no end.

Please use the comments to demonstrate your own ignorance,
unfamiliarity with empirical data, ability to repeat discredited
memes, and lack of respect for scientific knowledge. Also, be sure to
create straw men and argue against things I have neither said nor even
implied. Any irrelevancies you can mention will also be appreciated.
Lastly, kindly forgo all civility in your discourse . . . you are,
after all, anonymous.
